About the Job


Minimum of one (1) year of maintenance and general repair experience is prefferd.  Must be 21 years old or older and hold a valid Florida driver’s license and capable of operating facility vehicle and maintaining a safe driving record.  For purposes of effective communication with residents, families and staff must be able to see, hear, speak, read and write English.  Maintain ability to stretch, push, pull kneel, reach, twist, lift unassisted at least 50 lbs and walk or stand up to eight hours.


1.    Follow maintenance schedule/instructions as outlined to include on-call duties as required.


2.    Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas and driveways as necessary.


3.    Perform routine maintenance and repair of the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, painting, etc.


4.    Keep work area free of hazardous conditions (i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc.) to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.


5.    Perform preventative maintenance to include air conditioning, lighting fixtures, electrical appliances, vehicles and mechanical systems.


6.    Maintain linen and chemical supplies if Resident Care Aides are not on grounds.


7.    Assist Environmental Services Manager to ensure physical environment is maintained for cleanliness and safety.  Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns as soon as possible.


8.    Conduct daily floor care:  sweeping, wet mopping, waxing, buffing and shampooing carpets as scheduled.



9.    Assist ESM in maintaining workshop area to include proper usage and storage of facility tools as well as adherence to safety guidelines.


10.  Ensures residents’ rights and promotes optimal quality of life standards.  Reports any incident of abuse in accordance with facility procedure and the Disabled Persons Abuse Negligence Act. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with consumers. Attends required abuse risk management training. Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.  Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.   Ensures individuals are properly signed in and signed out.  Ensures only authorized adults are allowed in the facility.


11.  Demonstrates understanding of, and complies with, all policies related to safety.  Performs work safely and without injury to self or others. Identifies hazards or dangerous behaviors in the environment and takes immediate action to avoid, mitigate or eliminate, and report hazardous conditions or unsafe behaviors.  Ensures the safety of self, residents/consumers, co-workers, families, guardians and visitors at all times.


12.  Adhere to attendance policy. Report to work on time.  Complete required training and attend meetings as required.


13.  Projects a professional appearance and a willing, positive, courteous expression in performing tasks.  Cooperates with fellow workers, supervisors, residents, visitors in performing tasks.


14.  Ensure compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations.  Complete other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Program Director.
